Housing
The high cost of living in the Bay Area is burdening our residents and causing rapid displacement of marginalized communities. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated the existing housing crisis, creating an even more existential threat to housing insecurity.
Accomplishments
In 2023, Redwood City became the first city in San Mateo County to earn State approval for our Housing Element and is in the top 4% of California cities in being awarded a Prohousing designation and nearly $1 million in additional funding
Helped to create our Anti-Displacement Strategy which includes increased tenant protections, preserving unsubsidized affordable housing, preserving mobile home living, developing anti-harassment policies, limit renovation-related evictions.
I endorsed the Redwood City Fair and Affordable Housing Initiative for rent control and stronger tenant protections.
Proposals
Strengthen our tenant protections to close loopholes around informal evictions, support rent control, and create a rental registry.
